Dorothy Dandrige is one of the most famous and well known African-American actresses and vocalists in the Harlem Renaissance. She would have many hurdles during her life while growing up before her career.Also She influenced many people around her during the Harlem Renaissance.Later in her life her career would reach a climax of success.She would accomplish many things in her life, like a Academy award for being the best actress.She would perform with big time actors and actresses and singers.She would overall leave a big impact on the world still to this day. She would get the lead roles in movies. Like Carmen Jones who would nominate her for a oscar.That would make her the first black woman to be nominated for a oscar ever.That would not be the last great thing she had done as she would later be on the cover of the Life magazine which would make her the first black woman to be on the cover of the Life magazine .Overall, during this time she would be the first black women to do a lot of things in the field of Arts and cinema.Even though during would unfortunately fall into a great state of depression.This was due to her decisions and choices that she would do during her life and that would later make her unhappy in life.There were other factors that would make her unhappy like for example her marriage. Due to her unhappy marriage, she would have to divorce her husband. Since her life was going downhill, her apex in her career would be reaching a base. She would later on take antidepressant pills to basically cure her depression. Sadly the antidepressants would not cure her, and she was not doing well financially which led her to overdosing causing her death on September 8th,
