The Dothard v. Rawlinson case ruling abolished the height and weight restriction requirements in the Alabama prison system applicant process. The Supreme Court ruled that the height and weight requirements institutionally discriminated against applicant Dianne Rawlinson by improperly denying her employment as a correctional officer in men’s prisons based on not meeting the credentials and was an illogical block to women being hired to work in men’s penitentiaries (Belknap 2015:484). However, the court upheld that women could be excluded based on their ability to incite men prisoners. The incitement of cross-sex supervision was denied and then smoothed over.
The Everson v. Michigan Department of Corrections case is a suit that male and female
