It was another day at school, boring as usual. He was walking through the halls minding his own business. Nothing special, just an ordinary day. As he’s walking casually, he hears the speaker go off. “Douglas Lora, please report to the main office, thank you.” As he makes his way to the office, he begins to get a strange sensation that something isn’t right. He finally walks in and sees his parents with the principal. “Douglas, sit down, we need to talk... We don’t know how to say this… Your best friend is dead…”

Everyone else seemed lost and confused. His best friends’ mother was shattered and heart broken. His death made such a dramatic impact on her. Douglas had never seen her so heart broken and her eyes gave it all away.

His best friends’ family began planning a funeral and Douglas thought it was a great idea. Douglas didn’t want anyone to feel sad, so he focused on trying to make everyone feel better by cracking jokes and just distracting their thoughts with other things. Several weeks went by and it was time for the funeral. Everyone was dressed formally in black. Douglas walks in to the funeral home and sees all these old faces and new faces. Everyone else was frightened to go in to the room to see his lifeless body in the casket. On the other hand, Douglas was curious rather than scared. The viewing was being done in an orderly fashion way, one by one. Douglas patiently waited for his turn. When it was his turn, all he could do was stare at his best
