E. Douglass mention that learning to read and write was a big moment in his life because at that time he was aware what slavery was and how wrong it is. Douglass had a slave owner name the Auld’s, Ms. Auld took on the task of teaching him how to read and write but when her husband found out he was furious and that was when Douglass realized that knowing how to read and write was important. The Auld family said that " Douglass would be “forever unfit" to be a slave if he learned to read, and at that moment”. No family would probably take douglass because he was to educated and he would be able think for himself. There’s a saying that everyone know it is “The more you know, the more power you have”. This line is pretty much saying if you know
