Douglasville is located in the county seat of Douglas County, Georgia, United States. The census exercise conducted in 2010 revealed the population of the city to be about 30, 961. The previous exercise conducted in the year 2000 revealed the population to be about 20, 065. This shows that the city is densely populated. The Motto of the city is “New Growth, Old Charm, Always Home”. The name was gotten from a large tree which was used by the Native Americans as a landmark. The tree was always stripped off its bark to make it look more conspicuous. In 1974, railroad was constructed in the area and Douglasville was founded. The community was named for Senator Stephen A. Douglas.
