In the article "President tells students: This is not a day care. This is a university!" , by Dr. Everett Piper, a student is offended by a homily on love that made him feel bad for not showing love. The student felt as though the speaker was wrong for making him and his peers feel uncomfortable. The president then speaks his mind on culture and how it has taught kids to be self-absorbed. The president then states a message to not only the young man who was offended but to any one who would listen. The president stated that a good sermon is suppose to make you confess your sins not comfort your selfishness. He also states at Oklahoma Wesleyan University they teach you selfless rather than self-centered. He goes on to say that the university is a place that you learn life is not about you but about others. Dr. Everett Piper ends the article by saying "This is a not a day care. People who are victimized easily need to realize that playing the victim when you are guilty will get you no where. People need to know that you grow as a person when you can admit to your wrongs. I feel as though this topic may bring up another opinion as far as those who just simply feel offended and do not hold a guilty conscience.
