First, Jekyll is tall, large and handsome. He is known to be wealthy, respected and proper. His only flaw was he believed that within each human, there is good and evil. He made the experiment to become the evil side, which he calls Edward Hyde. Hyde has a dwarf like appearance, deformed and appears to be younger than Jekyll. Jekyll character changes to someone who doesn’t have a care in the world. “Hyde would be not even conscious of all that he had lost.” (Stevenson pg 70). He doesn’t regret anything; there isn't any remorse for what he does when Hyde does horrible things like killing, hurting someone or evil deeds. It makes Hyde stronger and more powerful. He needs to be Hyde and left off steam. “I felt younger, lighter, happier in body…” (Stevenson pg 63). When he first transformed into Hyde, he felt free, without any worries that he felt as Jekyll. He was ashamed of the dark temptations he felt. By being Hyde, he could be good and evil in his mind. However, he doesn’t feel responsible for Hyde. Jekyll views his relationship with Hyde to be freeing and breathe of fresh air. He really believes that he accomplished spitting up a human’s dual nature.
