Dreamworks Studios has created many great films. Two of which that stands out includes the Caregiver archetype. Both Gru, from Despicable Me, and Sully, from Monsters Inc. are male Dreamworks characters that have surprisingly fit into this archetype. These films have been extremely popular, as the surprising use of caregiver archetype appeals to the audience.
At the beginning of these films, both Gru and Sully were being masculine, with little Caregiver traits. However, there is a twist of fate that puts young children into their care. Both of these characters have little to no idea on how to take care of children. When they overcome their fears and selfishness, the audience is pleasantly surprised to see them put others first.
