Chapter 10, Section 3 A, Drugs and Drinking, explains how the growing numbers of high school students using drugs and drinking has become a norm in today's society. The chapter also discusses how drugs and drinking can impact a students ability to learn and how teachers can prevent substance abuse in the educational field. According to the author of this chapter, most schools in the US have learned from surveys, that about half of their populations drinks, use drugs, smokes marijuana, smokes cigarettes or use other tobacco products.
