American jazz legend Duke Ellington once said, ¨A problem is a chance to do your best.¨ Life is full of many challenges that have to be faced, and whether small or large, each and every one of them influences your life for better or for worse. In a sense, everything that people do is in order to solve a problem. For example humans eat in order to solve the problem of hunger, they work in order to buy food, and they go to school in order to be educated enough to work. In each of these cases, the cause of the action is to solve a problem. A problem is a chance to do your best because, you can make the most out of a bad situation, it provides many benefits, and if you don’t, you could risk making the problem worse.

To begin Duke Ellington’s quote was meant to inspire people to make every moment count no matter the hardships or problems they may face. If every action is the result of a problem needing to be solved then, a person who does their best to solve each obstacle they encounter it will improve their life. This is due to the simple fact that if your focus and attention are on something, the higher the chance is of figuring out a way to fix it. With a higher chance and more time dedicated to think of solutions, the quality of those solutions is bound to increase because the more effort you put into something, the more you will get out of it. Not only will the quality of the solution increase, but the speed at which you come to those conclusion will likewise improve, leaving less time for those problems to worsen. It could also make you more confident in your abilities and boost your morale knowing your hard work and effort paid off.
