Mark Bauerlein states, “ask this wired and on-the-go high school senior a few intellectual questions and the facade of the in-the-know-ness crumbles.” (Source 1 p. 168) Being termed the dumbest generation allows incentive to prove all other generations wrong. It seems extremely condescending to label this body before they have truly had an opportunity to make its mark on civilization. Individuals under 30 may be different than the older cohorts, but they are still capable of coherent thought and intellectual conversation. No matter the circumstances each generation may have “dumb” individuals, but it will also have exceptional individuals who will make a difference. Furthermore, those who crafted this label made a “dumb” mistake themselves. A generation is typically a time period of twenty years. However, the group being referenced comprises thirty years. Therefore, the “Dumbest Generation” is not in fact a generation, but a mix of Millennials, Generation X, and Generation
