With the birth of every new generation follows the same accusation, that they are the “dumbest generation”. That accusation is currently being placed among the generation of people under the age of 30, more specifically, “the millennials”. Living in what is called the information age, these people are being bombarded with new and improved technological advances on the daily. Companies everywhere are constantly working to come up with an idea that makes living more efficient. Technology has changed the way everybody goes about their daily life. A person has all the knowledge they need with the click of a button in the palm of their hand. Because of this, the assumption is being made that they have no common knowledge and simply “know nothing” (Bauerlein). Although technology has affected the way that one learns, the generation of millennials in no way constitutes the so called dumbest generation. With the multitude of social media site posts and text messages, young people are now writing more than ever. Technology is changing the way the young people write, “technology isn’t killing our ability to write. It’s reviving it -- and pushing our literacy in bold new directions” (Source 7). Using Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, etc., the people are documenting every part of their day in a way that hasn’t been done before. They have adapted to write to grasp the attention of a particular audience, mostly their peers, trying to keep them interested.
