The latest term "YOLO" or "you just live once" has rapidly turned into the most recent catchphrase of the microwave era, rapidly tossing all originations of living to the full out the window. Heartthrob boy band 1D convey the expression immensely within their song “Alive” commenting on how short life is through the catchy lyrics of “We got to live before we get older, do what we like, we got nothing to lose”. Whilst I for one have a lot to lose such as my dignity there is no denying that the boys are keen to embrace the concept of “Yolo”.
Dylan Thomas’s “do not go gentle into that good night” shows the utmost desire of knowing that we as a human being had an impact no matter how small within the entangled web we call life. Mr Thomas does so by using his relationship with his fading father as a means of conveying the primitive instinct to hold on to those close to death for as long as we can despite knowing the inevitable end we are all destined to face.

Whilst a bit of a player and a social smoker of opium, he did not really consider himself much until it was announced his father was close to death.
