The way the media exaggerates the importance of beauty and a slim physique puts a lot of pressure on young women to live up to society's expectations. Women are expected to have a thin waist, flawless skin, a nice smile, and a pretty face, even though it's nearly impossible. The media's expectations causes women to feel overwhelmed, stressed, and pressured into being something that is nearly impossible to be. Being a young girl makes it even harder, especially going through puberty because they are experiencing different changes in their body they never had before; along with gaining weight, acne, and a new menstrual cycle to get used to adolescents also have to deal with the hormonal changes and mood swings that come along with growing up. The media may not realize it, but by the media exploiting about how important it is to stay young looking, skinny, and beautiful they are influencing the bullying that goes on today. It's such a tragedy that the world is so blind to the fact that the media is the leading cause of this expectation of women and society is doing nothing to change it. Some women don't even have the confidence to walk out of the house in shorts, skirts, or tank tops, but for some women it's casual clothing. All women, no matter what shape or size they are, should accept themselves for who they are instead of belittling themselves for not being what society expects them to
