Is it utopia or dystopia? Satirical utopia? Back in 1932 when it was written, it's clear that it's a dystopia. While not as oppressive and totalitarian as George Orwell’s 1984, written only a decade later, it still has those qualities that make you pray that this is not our future. Taking away reproductive possibility seems a little inhumane. Creating life as if it were another product in a factory dehumanizes this new world and leads to its lack of individuality. At the same time, you can find utopian qualities to it. While everyone is the same in their respective castes, they are all satisfied with their place in life.
