In recent years, technology, once a solution, is now becoming a problem. Research in scientific technology and medicine saves lives and increases the lifespan of humans. However, innovations like nuclear warfare have created opportunities for mass destruction. Technology- the savior of Ayn Rand’s futuristic society is becoming the dictator of today's society. With the rapid growth in technology, extremists argue that pursuing artificial intelligence will lead to robots enslaving the human population. On the contrary, in Ayn Rand’s futuristic society, it is ideologies that control the people, and science and technology that rescue them from that control. These ideas enforced by the World Council prohibit a sense of personal identity and acknowledgment that there is power in the individual. Collectivism controls the individual and society. The word “ego,” the Latin root for “I,” is forbidden in the world of Anthem.
