Both the Babylonians and the Sumerians had civilizations that had three classes. The first class was the richest class and it consisted of kings, priest, nobles, and authority figures, the second class consisted of farmers, scribes, potters, and smiths, and the last class was the slaves. Another similarity between the two of was the type of society. Both of these societies were patriarchal societies, this meant that the man of the family had all the power and that everyone else in the family had to follow the guidelines that the father set. One of the main differences in between the two civilizations was the way they lived within that kingdom. Although Sumer was one big civilization, the people were constantly at war when the city-states wanted to evenly distribute the water , but the Babylonian empire united all of Mesopotamia to create a safe environment within its city
