Somewhere deep in the woods surrounded by trees lurked the Orrville High School Earth Science Club. Some thought they were crazy, who would just submit themselves to physical exercise? Who would clean rivers and recycle paper just for the fun of it? The Earth Science Club didn’t seem to mind; after all the way they saw it they were taking small steps to maintain the environment.
The Earth Science club was home to about 20 students ranging from freshman to Seniors. Some members played football, others marched with the band. A couple cheerleaders along with math geniuses actively participated in the club. The members saw their differences, but also accounted for their similarities. One similarity all of the kids had was Earth Science Club.

Earth science club is a club designed for students to interact with nature while also learning about it up close. Members of the club take part in recycling used electronics, paper, the cleaning of parks, and hiking. Mr. Duxbury, the leader of the club holds a fundraiser once a year to help the students raise money to go on a week-long trip during spring break. The trip involves hiking, cave spelunking, and a cavern walk through.
There were the hardcore earth science club kids and the intermediate kids. The hardcore kids were the members that lived and breathed earth science, while the intermediate kids took part in other activities. The hardcore members were the kids that attended every meeting, trip and recycling drive. While the intermediate kids tried to attend every activity, there busy schedules got in the way. Some of the intermediate kids played in the band or sang in the choir, the others played sports like soccer, and some worked hard to maintain part time jobs. One hardcore member was Riley. He always dressed like a hiker, who had lacked the benefits of a razor. Riley was one of the members that always had a hand in pranks. He was always making crude jokes.
