The successes and failure of Reconstruction were quite impactful on shaping the future of the United States. During the Civil War Era, the United States government was handed the task of trying to find the best way to reintegrate the Southern Confederate states into the Union again, and, even more challenging was finding ways for the African-Americans to have rights in those states.
