It takes place in the small town of Gualeguaychu, which is between Buenos Aires and the Iguazu Falls. The celebrations happen in the corsodromo, which is like a catwalk, and it seats about 38,000 people on the sides of it. Although there are many seats, the people all usually just end up standing instead of sitting, so they can get the best view of the performances. From there they get to watch the performance as it passes by them. There are groups of dancers, musicians, singers and others, which add up to about 700 performers. They all compete for the title of the “Kings of the Carnaval”. Since it’s like a competition, the groups pick their songs, themes, and begin to practice way before the carnival so they can win the title. The winners are picked by the judges, and are then awarded their title. The performers are not the only ones dancing during the holiday, but the locals join in on dancing in the streets.
