President Obama has been campaigning for re-election. His views on many of the issues in our country clash with those of Mitt Romney, the republican candidate. Obama has made progress addressing the nation’s problems while in office. He has a vision for the next four years. We will see whether or not he has the opportunity to continue with this plan on November 6, when elections take place.

Our country currently has record high unemployment, so economic issues are a big deal. Obama believes that we need a tax code where everybody pays their fair share. He promises to lower taxes on the manufacturing industry, and raise taxes on the wealthy. He will definitely raise corporation taxes in the near future, but says that he is also going to financially support United States farmers. Obama believes the stimulus package and rescue of the auto industry helped to create jobs. He took office with $8T debt, and the stimulus package was needed to restore economy growth. He promises $4,000 tax credit for companies who hire unemployed workers. Lastly, Obama would like to freeze annual domestic spending for the next five years.

Another large issue the candidates have debated about is fossil fuel use. Obama would like to increase the United States oil and gas production. He is going to leave it up to the states to define stricter emission standards, but does support a mandatory cap-and-trade system to reduce carbon emission.
