Elie Wiesel’s “Night” and Irene Fogel Weiss’ Testimony both describe the horrors of the Holocaust. Although the two have similar stories, each retells their experiences in different ways. Elie and Irene both encountered unimaginable situations and continue to share their stories so no one forgets. Wiesel’s “Night” centers on remembering the torture and physical pain Jews experienced. For example, working in bad conditions or dying from being gassed or burned. In contrast, Irene focuses on the emotional pain that many Jews experienced, such as the fear of the situation or families being separated. Although the two have different perspectives, they both are trying to get the same message across–forgetting will only repeat the past. Wiesel writes,
