Health care settings offer a unique care to patients, this care relies on the efficiency of care delivery and overall professional service offered. However, very often, certain care discrepancies tend to interfere and disturb the patient care delivery. For example, health disparities tend to induce troubles in several care settings.
Egede 2006, defined Disparity in healthcare as a difference in the nature of human services as it relates to racial or ethnic groups that are not because of factors related to accesss or the clinical needs of the patient , preferences, and usefulness of intervention. The Institute of Medicine (IOM) reports that there is an existence of racial and ethnic inequality. This usually results in the worst health outcomes that are unacceptable (Egede, 2006).
