Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton was born in New York City on August 28, 1774. To a wealthy Episcopalian family Her father was Dr. Richard Bayley, one of the first health officials in New York City. Her mother Catherine Charlton Bayley and her little sister passed away when she was three and four years old. When she was nineteen she married William Magee Seton on January 25, 1794. After four years of marriage, William’s father passed away leaving them in charge of the family exporting business and their seven half siblings. They had five children, Anna Maria, William, Richard, Catherine, and Rebecca. She loved helping the needy and caring for her family. She spent the last years of her life directing St. Joseph's Academy. She died January 4, 1821, at 46 years old. I chose this Saint because when I was at a Catholic summer camp called Our Lady of Mount Carmel they had relics and I felt drawn to her relics, and I will be attending Seton Lasalle High School in the fall.
