From bullying to fighting for rights in the workplace and basic human rights, all of these require moral courage. Without intelligent disobedience, not a single person would be able to stand up for themselves in cases of mistreatment in the workforce, for example, in fear of what may happen if they were to speak up. Every single drastic change in our society that was made for the betterment of the people, was caused by people not being afraid to stand down. Whether it is fighting against racial discrimination, or for the lives of people abroad, that courage leads to change. However, not many people have the courage necessary to fight for themselves or others, and that’s dangerous. This leads to an ongoing cycle of abuse and mistreatment. The general public needs to have more of it. There is a program in place called “Moral Courage Project”. They focus on creating safe spaces as well as working towards unity. This is an important aspect of moral courage, however, it doesn’t focus on ways to increase the spark that tells people to fight. A possible solution is to work on the program to include ways to call out when something is wrong, as well as to do something about it. If this were to go as planned, more people would be willing to stand up to most
