Elvis Presley influenced many youths in the Australian society as they were able to relate to his music which defined them as youth and separated them from their parents generation. Many Australian teenagers were affected by the image they saw through his music videos thinking it was the ideal look which resulted in many of them copying his personality, hairstyle and fashion choices therefore, beginning a new culture for Australian teenagers. Before WWII began, young people didn't have a lot of leisure time this was because they usually worked for long hours to provide money for their families. After WWII the young people stayed longer at schools with food and school fees provided by their parents, they also received pocket money as most children had part time jobs. This allowed for the music, fashion and entertainment industries to grow as more children were being influenced by celebrities such as Elvis Presley therefore they bought his albums and copied his style.
