Eminent domain is when the government forcefully takes property that may or may not be for sale from the owner. Eminent domain does provide a lot of benefits, but overall it causes more harm than good. The benefits that can come from eminent domains. For example, in the article “Eminent Domain Often Leaves Broken Communities Behind,” the people were promised benefits and jobs for the community, but they didn't get any of these benefits and somehow only the corporations profited in this situation. This is unfortunate because the common people are being taken advantage of by these companies who just want to keep making more money and not really caring about the people that they promised to help. On the other hand, eminent domain is being used to help people, shown in the article “An important Tool For Community Revitalization.” Where the government used eminent domain to help restore about 200 families, get back houses and make them a community center that cost about $600,000 that has a kitchen, meeting rooms and full-sized gymnasium.
