During our conversation with nurse Emma, it became clear that a shortage of healthcare staff is one of the significant issues for her nursing unit, which impairs patient care, leads to burnout, and increases turnover. Due to staff shortages, nurses feel constrained to take on more responsibilities with less assistance. Therefore, an eight-to-one nurse-patient ratio at Emma's med-surge unit has become the norm for every shift. To address the shortage of bedside healthcare staff in Emma's unit, we propose the following plans for hiring more nurses and patient care technicians while considering the nursing unit's budget and reducing costs. Our goal is to enhance patient care quality, boost job happiness for nurses and patient care technicians,
