In every generation there is always someone who fights against the social norm. A person who sees where society is wrong and fights against the odds for change and progression. In the late 1800’s and early 1900’s the person who took up this charge was Emma Goldman. A self-proclaimed anarchist Emma was born on June 27, 1869 in Kovno Lithuania. There she would stay until upon threat of throwing herself in the Neva river at the age of 16 did her father allow her to move to America. Emma traveled on a boat named Elba to New York through the Atlantic Ocean.
