My chapters talk about one man's hatred for his slave. Two women missing their children as one is filled with hope and another is filled depression and a logging to be reunited with her children. As well as a truly kind man's death, his name was Tom. In the chapter XL, you read about a man named Legree and see his anger for his loyal slave Tom. Tom will not give Legree the location of the missing slaves. Tom does not even lie to his to save himself or tells his master the location of the run-away slaves. This truly caused me to think of how a loyal and honest man is killed over his loyalty and honesty. In today's world these qualities are what many people look for or wish to have. Emmeline tells Cassy she does not care about freedom, but want to be with her children. Emmeline is a mother who wants to be with her children, which shows a great mother role. She desires her children so much that she will stop praying and does not care about her freedom. Cassey, trying to bring Emmeline is good spirits tries to tell Emmeline that she will be her child. This really stayed in my mind because Emmeline is a good mom that wishes her children back and Cassey shows a great person for comforting Emmeline instead of keeping her head in the clouds while Emmeline becomes more
