Ender’s Game Analysis
Is your side always the right side? This book is about a boy named Ender and he figures out it isn’t. Ender’s Game is a book about a boy named Ender that has been selected to go through a program to train him to be some sort of super soldier, so that he can protect humanity from a race of aliens coming to earth.
Two of the main characters in the book are Ender and Peter. The book is written from Ender’s perspective. He is not very tall and skinny. He speaks in a lot more mature way than most other kids. He likes to think everything through before he does it. He is a calm person but when he gets into fights he likes to end them by profusely beating the person, this is the way he makes sure he won’t have to fight the same person twice. He is also picked on by a lot of other people for his size and intelligence. On the other hand Peter, Ender’s brother, is like the opposite of him. Peter is tall, strong and handsome with dark hair. He likes to brag a lot about how he could beat up or kill Ender if he wanted to. He likes to think that he is better than most people and that he is the leader. The main theme in Ender’s Game is compassion. Ender shows it the most at the end when he destroys the whole race of aliens while not knowing it (Scott Card 296-297). He also felt it when he took the pupa of the Bugger and started to raise it (Scott Card 319). Ender realizes that they were never trying to hurt the humans and that they were just trying to talk. He also feels bad after he is in a fight and beats up someone even after they are down to end all other fights with them. After a fight, Ender usually realizes that him fighting is like his brother, in the way that Peter is cruel and beats up Ender a lot even when Ender didn’t do
