From English 111 to English 112, I have felt significant growth in my writing ability. I have written a total of 16 pages for English 112 though three essays: an argumentative essay, a literary analysis essay, and a multi-genre essay. In comparison to the three essays I wrote in English 111, I feel my organization, writing process, my ability to properly format, and my tone in correspondence to the topic have improved. Overall, organization has been my most improved. This is displayed in my writing process and essays. It is best displayed in my argumentative essay discussing the state of the American Dream. My proper formatting is best displayed in the APA essays, for this format was still new to me transitioning into English 112. Not having written on before, I wasn’t entirely sure how to approach it, especially with a given topic. However, after researching the topic and finding what I felt was the appropriate tone for and argument, it came relatively naturally. I felt there was good organization in the material presented and word choice suited an argument. Honestly, what I found most difficult about this topic was trying to write a sincere argument over a topic I had no particular interest in. Of course, free choice is not always an option and it must be dealt with regardless of personal preference, but that was my greatest challenge with this essay.
