What Greed Can Do Greed today is much more popular than the greed in these stories. As today, greed happens everywhere and mainly every day. In the stories, greed does happen often and they can get wired, and mainly out of hand. Greed in our society today though is much worse than what happens in these stories and today, people are getting arrested for it, getting fired, and loosing families. In today’s society it is much more rampant than Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God, The Devil in Tom Walker, and The Crucible with being in greed and society. The story, Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God by Jonathan Edwards, was an interesting piece of literature. The Sinners in the story was over the top greedy and they believe that God is greedy in some ways. The author of the Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God speaks bad about God expressing the saying, “When god beholds the ineffable extremity of your case, and sees your torment to be so vastly disproportioned to your strength, and sees how your poor soul is crushed, and skins down, as it were into infinite gloom, he will have no compassion upon you” (Edwards 104). This story is like our greed in our society today because under Obama’s order, all federal contractors religious or otherwise, will be prohibited from firing, refusing to hire, or discriminating in any other way against LGBT employees (Margolin).
