My favorite character in “The Wind In The Willows” is Ratty, the water rat. He has a brown little face with whisker, small neat ears, and thick silky hair. He lives in the river, enjoys the river, and loves the river. “By it and with it and on it and in it, said the rat. Its brother and sister to me…and naturally washing” (P10). Ratty was friendly, kind, and knowledgeable. He invited the Mole to his boat, to the panic, and introduces him to his friends. Ratty also teaches the Mole about the river and warn him about the Wild Wood. “That? O that’s just the Wild Wood…I’ve never been there, and I’m never going, nor you either, if you’ve got any sense at all” (P11). Ratty was loyal, grave, and dependable. His friends always come first. When the Mole is gone to the Wild Wood, Ratty was very worried about him and went to look for him although he never been there. “He made his way manfully through the length of the wood, to its furthest edge…Moly, moly, Moly! Where are you? It’s me-its old Rat” (P52). Ratty was very really helpful. He helped the Mole nurse his leg when he got injured in the Wild Wood. He also helped the Mole to find his home although it’s snowing and danger. “We’re going to find that home of yours, old fellow. Replied the Rat pleasantly” (P90). Ratty was generous and cares about others’ feeling. When the Mole was sad about bring Ratty to his poor and cold little home. Ratty comfort the Mole and helped him clean his
