Equality 7-2521 goes through life saying “We”. He doesn’t get to choose the life he wants, the Council of Vocations choose it for him. All men have to wear a bracelet on their left wrist with their names on them. It is a burden for men to be six feet tall, just because they are different. All kids grow up not knowing their parents or their siblings. When all kids reach age 5 they begin schooling. They stay in school for ten years and then receive a job that the House of Vocations chose for them. Equality 7-2521 is different from all the rest of the people. He ponders about the world and what all is in it, he wants to solve mysteries and find out more new things, that even the scholars don’t know. When it came time for him to receive his job he wasn’t pleased. His hopes were that he would be the one selected to be a scholar, but instead he was chosen to be a street sweeper. …show more content…
At first he thought how bad it was keeping it from the scholars, but he enjoyed going down there and being away from men. He needed supplies for his new hideout, so he stole from the Home of Street Sweepers, thinking they would never know. He felt no shame or regret for doing it, even though he knew it was a sin. Equality 7-2521 met a girl named Liberty 5-3000 working in a soil field, while he was sweeping the streets. They grew a bond and kept it quiet, because it was a very bad sin in their city.
