The lab was a completely dingy, small empty room with a locked door on one side of the room. The guards shoved both Jake and Error 404 into the room, and then locked the door behind them. Jake began nervously pacing back and forth, worried for his life.
Error 404 decided to speak up right away. “Why, that was quite an adventure. Well then, let’s get down to it. I have a plan.” Error 404 seemed completely calm and collected, and Jake wondered how that was even a possibility.
“Wait”, Jake said. “Error 404, why did the leader call you a mistake back there? What did you do?”
Error 404’s collected mannerism had disappeared, and he suddenly looked like a nervous wreck. “Ahh, I was afraid I was going to have to explain this. Sit back kid, this is a lot to process. Everyone in Hayes is created by The Officiers. And, quite obviously, The Officers are not very good at their job. So, when they created us,

He wiped the tears from his eyes and let the several guards grab ahold of him and drag him into another room.
They ran several tests on Jake, but he couldn’t tell you what the tests were. They must have prodded at his body for hours before they finally left, unsatisfied with their results. Jake felt numb, empty, and cold. He missed his home, his mom, maybe even school at this point. He didn’t want to lose Error 404, though. He had never made such a connection with someone, even if they had only met that day.
Seconds later, the door opened with a loud bang and Error 404 came sprinting through, yelling, “Jake, let’s move it! We’re busting out!”
Jake didn’t even hesitate. He picked up Error 404, who was surprisingly light, and heaved him over his shoulder. He pushed through the guards and ran through the fifty some doors back out the grand entrance. At this moment, he felt nothing. Jake just kept running and running, as fast as his legs could carry him. But it still wasn’t fast
