Have you ever thought about how how horrible it would be to have to leave your hometown against your will? Being an immigrant you have to leave your old life behind. This can cause many challenges. As Esperanza moved from Mexico to the new camp she faced discrimination. Although Esperanza faced many challenges, as an immigrant her challenges were discrimination and doing her chores that she wasn’t used to. One of Esperanza’s challenges that she faced was mama getting sick with valley fever. “ I told mama I could help. But I cannot even wash clothes or sweep a floor.
