In the novel Esperanza Rising, Esperanza faced many challenges when she immigrated to the United States including, leaving her grandmother, and leaving her home. When Esperanza had to immigrate to the United States, she had to leave her Grandmother in Mexico while she moved. This made Esperanza very sad to leave. She had to leave one of the people she was closest to with no way to know if she was safe or even alive, which was a big challenge for Esperanza’s mental health.
