Evaluation of CHADD
Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, commonly refereed to as CHADD, is a profitless organization that provides the community with information regarding ADHD (CHADD 2015). They also provide the community with a place to get evidence-based information on AD/HD. When evaluating a website make sure the site meets a decent criteria so you know the website is not misleading. The CHADD website meets the following criteria: Accuracy, currency, and authority.
When evaluating a website on accuracy you would want to look for the facts on the website. Whose website is it? Is it a company website (.com), or a education website (.edu), or is it an organization (.org) website? Many web resources do not have editors to check the facts so you need to be careful when using the website. When your evaluating a website on currency you want to check the accuracy related to todays advents. When was the pages last update? Compare the content to other webpages to see if the informatician is up to date. Lastly, when you are evaluating a website for authority you want to know who the publisher is. You would want to ask yourself: who wrote this page? Are there copyright credits? Are there links to organizations? Can you verify the authors credentials? These are questions that need to be asked and have answers to use the site.
Upon evaluating CHADD the first step was to look for accuracy on the website. The general public can establish what type of website CHADD is and they would be able to establish whether the facts presented on CHADD were correct. CHADD is an organization website and its website and information is copyrighted to Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. There is a link on the site that offers information on the symptoms of ADHD. The public would be able to cross reference the information that was provided on their website with the CDC (Center for Disease Control) that also has information on symptoms of ADHD. By using the CDC information the public would be a ble to establish the content that CHADD provides is accurate. The CHADD website was last updated in 2015 and the information they provide is related to todays advents. There were no broken links when you clicked on other links for information. I was able to establish who wrote the information on the website. I was able to establish who the copyright owner is and I was able to verify the credentials of the authors of the website.
