The 8th Amendment discusses cruel and unusual punishment. I believe that if they have committed this kind of crime, then they are already committed to cruel and unusual punishment. These pedophiles do not deserve freedom. Even though I don’t want my tax dollars supporting them in jail/prison, I’d rather they stay incarcerated for the rest of their lives. The cycle does not end unless they want it to end by deciding to change and heal from their pasts. Capital punishment is also a very viable option. Our justice system is too lenient on convicted criminals. The U.S. Supreme Court has determined that a penalty must be proportional to the malefaction; otherwise, the penalization infringes the Eighth Amendment's enjoinment against cruel and …show more content…
I simply cannot imagine having a child in this life having his/her safety in jeopardy due to sexual predators roaming free in communities around the country. Sexual abuse is both very damaging and devastating to the victim emotionally as well as physically. With all of the overwhelming evidence and statistics about convicted sexual predators, I do not believe it is a wise choice to let these pedophiles out of jail/prison simply because chances are extremely high that they will strike again or as I spoke in previous discussions, if they do not commit the same crime, they are very highly likely to commit a new crime. Here are my thoughts for rehabilitation as far as the law and the guidelines behind the law. I believe that the state should find a way to appropriate funds to build facilities outside of 1 mile from the closest resident somewhere where there is a temperature fluctuation from day/night and no extremes in climate. At the facility, our tax dollars and funding from each city in the state can go to ensuring the compound remains safe and habitable. Here the thing, these people went to prison for a sexual offense. I don’t care what the cause was if they were old enough and knew what they were doing at the time
