Yuri Orlov, starred by Nicholas Cage in the movie “Lord of War" produced by Andrew Niccol in 2005, lived an ordinary life in Brooklyn, working at the family establishment, but later on he is driven by wealth and fame, becoming a guns dealer. Instead of tracing the general and common hero's journey the focus will be on the Anti-hero's journey; subtle differences may occur to Joseph Campbell’s original Monomyth. The chosen protagonist correlates with “The Fall Arc", incompleteness and lack of content ensues in the Anti-hero changing priorities and moral, making himself believe in a lie that will drag him to the deepest abyss of inner destruction. The lie is a metaphor, reflecting the protagonist's justifications of his deeds.

A tragic occurring, such as the death of a family member, of a relative or of a loved one, is an indication that the Anti-hero will strive with much more eager and aggression to achieve his goals. Vitaly, Yuri's brother and the most predictable character, has been shot by paramilitary soldiers after Vitaly successfully detonated a grenade inside one of the two trucks filled with Yuri's guns during a transaction in West Africa, in the hope to prevent the massacre on the refugees’ camp. This tragic premise indicates a progress from worse to worst. The article Hero by Christopher Vogler states, “the most effective Heroes are those who experience sacrifice they may give up a loved one or friend along the way. They may give up some cherished vice or eccentricity as the price of entering into a new way of life.“ As a result of Vitaly's death Yuri has become more efficient no one was left teaching him about moral and ethic, he practiced his job without any moralizer
