Feminism is an important topic in present-day and a variety of people are beginning to define themselves as feminists. As a result of this growth in importance, feminism is more relevant in different fields of study, including criminology. According to Linden (2016), “one of the primary aims for feminist engagement with criminology has been to bring women into view” (p.185). Firstly, feminism in criminology is needed to protect women from violence and help to understand women in crime. Secondly, organized crime needs attention because Canada suffers from this crime at a high rate. Lastly, corporate and white collar crime is crucial to grasp as it is relatively new and there are not as many laws protecting society from it at this time.
