There are two contradictory ideologies on this topic that create a great dilemma for our country regarding flag-desecration. Since too many veterans have seen their best friends die in war, they look forward to “the feelings of pride the flag evokes upon a return home (Source C)”. Granted, Americans have a right of freedom of speech. This right to Freedom of Speech does not mean Americans can blather whatever they want, there are certain restrictions on speech that many Americans do not understand. Everyone is entitled to an opinion or an idea, but citizens can only express the truth and must employ an “Offensive Principal” regularly enforced by the federal government. Aforementioned, protesting by burning the country’s flag is an “unsavory cost of political freedom (Source A)”.
