Ghana spent 7.9% of GDP on education in 2012 (The World Bank Group,2016). Most African countries spent on average about four percent of their GDP in the year 2013 (The World Bank Group, 2016). The World Bank reported that in 2012, on average countries in the world spend about 4.4 percent of their GDP on education (The World Bank Group,2016). Even though Ghana spends relatively higher on education; Ghana should be doing far better because of the precarious situation it finds itself in. This misuse of the very little funds affect the education received because it limits the number of classrooms built, the number of textbooks students have and the amount of money teachers are paid.
In addition, strikes by teachers because of lack of salary has grown rapidly. More teachers are discontented by the poor amount of pay.
