A personal connection that I have with the reading is just being a reader. I have never witnessed a miscue analysis or heard a lot about it before this class. I also do not recall if a miscue analysis was ever performed on me as a child. I can relate to some of the …show more content…
I like the idea that was provided in the book that suggested incorporating miscue analysis and readers’ workshop in the classroom. By incorporating miscue analysis into my conferences with students I will be able to keep data on my students reading abilities without feeling overwhelmed or caught off guard. I will also continually know where they stand in their reading abilities and any areas that can be a cause for concern. Another great idea provided by the author is for the students to understand miscues in reading and for them to know that everyone makes mistakes. Like stated in the text, these ideas can then lead students into use their own miscues to decide if a book is easy, hard, or right for them. This is an excellent way to promote metacognition in students and to hold them accountable for their
