The government thought that it was going to make the lives of Native Americans better by replacing their traditions and culture with the ones they brought with them. Colonials thought that their culture was better than the Native American culture and attempted to erase it with their own.

The colonists decided to redouble their efforts and build some boarding schools. The boarding schools were to focus on specific things in order to bring the Native Americans into the fold. The schools would focus on the English Language and not teach their native language. The boarding schools were going to attempt to transfer the allegiance for the Native Americans from their tribal government to the federal government. In 1889 Alexander Morgan ordered that Native American children attend school so that they could obtain control of them at an early age and strip away their native culture while they were still young.
