Did you know Selena Quintanilla took spanish lessons in the early 1980's. Selena Quintanilla in my opinion was a very succesful woman with an amazing career ended by a confused , angry woman.
Selena Quintanilla was born on April 16,1971. Her birth location was in Lake Jackson Texas. Selena's father's name was Abraham Quintanilla Jr. Her mothers name was Marcella Samora. Selena had one brother and one sister. Her sisters name was Suzette Quintanilla and her brothers name was A.B Quintanilla. Selena was raised in the southern Texas. Selena could not speak spanish and learned spanish lyrics for her songs. She was coached by her brother who wrote her songs. She also took spanish lessons in the early 1980's so she could project a more genuine Hispanic image during interveiws on spanish language radio. In 1987 , when Selena was 15 years, she won tejano music awards for best female vocalist and Performer of the year . In 1989 the Latin division of the EMI records album signed the band to a record deal. Selena also won a Grammy award for her album (selena live) and record numerous albums.
Selena's father was a musician and restaurateur. Her father put together a family band that played traditional Tejano music of the Texas borderland. Selena's dad inspired Selena and opened his own Tex-Mex restraunt in Lake Jackson where Selena performed in public with her brother and sister as members of Selena's band. The restaurant went down in the early 1980's because of economic recession.
In conclusion, Selena Quintanilla was a talented Tejano singer who was on top of her career when it was cut short by an untimely death. However Selena had high morals and provided girls a role models. Selena Quintanilla inspired many young hispanic girls to consider and complete there
