My Thoughts on Smoking
Cigarette smoking is a habit that kills more than million of people per year. It is surprisingly being picked up by children every day. Smoking has become popular all communities. The number of young smokers have been increased in most high schools and even middle schools. Most youth and teenagers are smoking because they think it is cool. Most of their friends are smoking and this influences children to smoke. Smoking is one of the worst things youth,teenagers, and adults can do to their bodies. Tobacco companies spend billions of dollar yearly on advertisements and other ways to make sure that these people start smoking and buying their product. Every year thousands of people die because of lung cancer and tobacco related illnesses. Everyone will come in contact with smoke from a cigarette at least once in their lifetime. Young and old people are addicted to smoking, and thousands more become addicted every year.
Most of the addicted smokers started when they were young. I remember my friend's grandfather use to bring them cigarettes home on a daily basic. We would smashed the cigarettes. We didn't know what anything about them. As I look back I'm glad because I could have became a smoker. Some of my friends did become smokers. Some still smoke and some have quit.
The reason why people get addicted to any type of tobacco product is because all tobacco roducts have nicotine in them, which is addictive. Nicotine in cigarettes is a poisonous drug. Smoking makes your body less fit and more susceptible to infections. Cigarette smoke also contains carbon monoxide, the same poisonous gases released from a car exhaust pipe. Carbon monoxide is a colorless and odorless, highly toxic gas that reduces the amount of oxygen that the blood can carry. Combined with the effects produced by the nicotine, it creates an imbalance in the demand for oxygen by the cells and the amount of oxygen the blood is able to
