Film Holocaust Paper The film The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is a fictional movie about a German boy (Bruno) who is also the son of a Nazi commandant becoming friends with a Jewish inmate from a concentration camp. It all began when Bruno and his family had to move because of his fathers’ job. The new home was very different and quite an adjustment. To adjust to the new environment, Bruno wanted to explore. One day while adventuring, he comes across a fence. On the other side of the fence was the boy in the striped pajamas (Shmuel). Bruno becomes good friends with Shmuel and starts to visit him more frequently. Bruno then decides that he wants to interact with Shmuel so he gets him to get a pair of striped pajamas so he could fit in. Bruno then comes upon a journey where he must help Shmuel find his father in the concentration camp. One day when Bruno crosses the fence to help Shmuel find his father, he encounters a crowd where the Jews are being guided to gas chambers. His innocence then leads him to death. This movie was tragic not only because a young child tried helping someone else but also gave up his life in doing so. Even thought he was unaware of what could happen to him on the other side of the fence that he still took the risk. It also raises a question about why his father as a Nazi commandant did not inform his son about his enemies (the Jews). Bruno being unaware not to associate with Jewish children was because he
