Have you ever been accused of something you didn’t do? Like when you were a child and a sibling or parent would take something from one another and blame it on you. Well, in the small, quiet town of Salem, Massachusetts this was not unheard of in the slightest. In the year of 1692, 20 people were murdered due to false accusations. Which makes me ponder around the thought, what caused all the hysteria. Three subjects that could have caused the hysteria of the Salem Witch Trials of 1692 include age, gender, and marital status of the accused/assures, the towns division, and lastly the dishonesty of the young single girls. To begin with, one cause of the Salem Witch trial hysteria was the age, gender, and marital status of the accused/accusers. In document B we can see that we can see just about eighty percent of the accused/accusers we female, clearly this…show more content… On the west side the people are mainly accusers, poorer, and have infertile soil while on the east side the people are mainly accused, richer, and have very fertile soil. This helps proof the hysteria of the trails because it shows how jealousy could have factored in during the trials. To conclude this I think it clear that town division and political statues played a key role in the hysteria of the Salem Witch Trials.
Lastly, a third and a very important reason for the Salem Witch Trial hysteria is the untruthful, acting girls. In the background essay we see a clear indication of the acting of these girls. The background essay says the girls started acting strange a few months before the accusations began.
